Poetry topic idea: A cracked glass

A cracked glass lends itself to many poetic expressions.  For instance, a poet could use a cracked glass to examine ideas of fragility, brittleness, temporariness, finality, time, leaking, ruin, deterioration, blemishes, turning points, sound and accidents.  In addition, there are many forms of glass which could be used with the idea of a cracked glass.

Here are three example poems using the poetry topic idea of a cracked glass:

as tears fell
water leaked onto the table
from the line in the glass

the new car drove
out from the dealership
as a truck drove by
threw a stone
caused a crack
and new became old

the package was opened
there was joy
until foam was removed
the damage was seen
and joy was broken
like the dish within
