Today’s poetry topic idea is spiral. Spirals can be seen in many places. Some examples include: a spiral staircase, DNA, a football being thrown, a rubber band being twisted, a sea shell, wiring, microorganisms, and candy canes. Since spirals are in so many diverse places, they could be used in many types of poems. A poet could write about one example, or combine examples together for a different effect. Additionally, a poet could use an example of a spiral as an element in a poem, rather than its focus. The addition could add symbolism.
