Poetry Book: First Try: A series of poems: Poem six: The surface is chipped

The sixth poem from M. Sakran’s collection of poetry entitled First Try, published by eLectio Publishing, is below.  First Try is available here:

http://www.amazon.com/First-Try-M-Sakran/dp/1632130343

The surface is chipped

The surface is chipped and broken away,
a weight fell down during the day,
the smooth is gone beneath is rough,
the surface seemed strong it did seem tough,
but not as tough as the weight did weigh.

The surface seemed strong like it would stay,
but the cost of the weight it could not pay,
the surface it did not have enough,
the surface is chipped.

As the weight did fall the surface did say,
that it could not move from the way,
the weight did fall and that seemed guff,
the pieces broke and now were stuff,
around the surface they all did lay,
the surface is chipped.

Garbage disposal

Water flows as carrots wash,
and outsides are rinsed clean.
The ends are cut and fall down,
with a knife that removes.
Then they are held away,
and the knife scraps away,
and the peel falls away,
in a powder of orange.
The water flows again,
the rest of the powder falls,
the carrots are set away,
and the powder is pushed down.
A switch is flipped,
and blades spin,
and the orange powder is gone.

The Pig

The pig did long to be a sheep,
to have some use besides his meat,
to seem to have a worth alive,
and not just dead.

The pig did wish he could give warmth,
with sweater and hat and by scarf,
and not be worn in other ways,
as belts and shoes.

In dreams of pain he knew what’s known,
that his death was thought in pieces:
bacon, chops, roast, butt, ham, shoulder,
– the sheep’s less known.

The pig did long to be a sheep.

Poetry Book: First Try: A series of poems: Poem three: The keys are separate

The third poem from M. Sakran’s collection of poetry entitled First Try, published by eLectio Publishing, is below.  First Try is available here:

http://www.amazon.com/First-Try-M-Sakran/dp/1632130343

The keys are separate

The metal keys are joined by metal rings,
with orientations of books pressed in,
they are silent except when they are moved,
and then they sound like little chimes.

The keys open the wooden doors simply,
without the speed of light enclosed by forms,
for years of one and thousand more behind,
they work by moving forts of steel away.

But a most painful state exists each day,
for metal keys are kept separate by will,
they are always kept on the left of one,
to keep them from objects that are fragile.

The form that holds the abacus small beads,
the form that holds the waves of the clear air,
they are special with worth and are fragile,
the fear of one is that the keys will harm.

The keys are filled with mere begin intent,
they have no will to harm the special forms,
and silently they do persist with life,
and hope that one will one day see this truth.

Poetry Book: First Try: A series of poems: Poem two: Burning Sticks

The second poem from M. Sakran’s collection of poetry entitled First Try, published by eLectio Publishing, is below.  First Try is available here:

http://www.amazon.com/First-Try-M-Sakran/dp/1632130343

Burning Sticks

The blade that spins will break if it hits them,
the brown strange shapes that lie upon the ground.
So men move out and drag the sticks away,
to a pile that is set off aside.
The hill will grow as more are put on top.
New sticks seem to appear up from the ground.
But soon as each is dragged away from there,
a time is met when none do move and grow.

The men then stand and look upon the stack,
the large pile that was formed on the side.
A small light spark of a thought inside does grow,
it glows and smokes and soon there is a flame.

The sticks should burn and give the men their want,
but here they are tangled and are too large.
The men decide to break the sticks apart,
and set them in the metal drum to burn.

With bends and cracks the sticks do break apart,
the irrevocable sound of the snap.
The sticks do break and are then put by size,
each type apart to burn more easily.
When this is done the pile is no more,
the sticks are in a small brown pyramid.

The air will cool and then the sticks will burn.

Poetry Book: First Try: A series of poems: Poem one: A stone in concrete

Starting today and for the next five following Mondays, one poem from M. Sakran’s collection of poetry entitled First Try, published by eLectio Publishing, will be featured on this blog.  These poems are the first six poems in the collection.  First Try is available here:

http://www.amazon.com/First-Try-M-Sakran/dp/1632130343

Here is the first poem:

A stone in concrete

Alone in the grayness of same,
the lock of strength holds on always,
and makes the small existence still.
The force and weight of tons of mass,
compress the life of captive held,
and does not slow or move away,
because the held does not matter.
