Milestone: Six Year Anniversary

Today is the six year anniversary of the first post on this blog.  Thank you to everyone who has read something on it.

Today there is an announcement.  Although a specific post count or date has not been determined, the plan is to end the blog in the relatively near future.  When a date is chosen, there will be a note on a post or a specific post about it.

Hopefully readers have learned something, been entertained, been inspired, or in some way gotten something from the blog.  Thank you again to everyone who has read something on it.

Here’s a short poem:

Thank you to everyone,
who has read what was here.

Shadow: four-year anniversary

Today is the four-year anniversary of the death of the dog Shadow.  You can read posts from a commemoration of Shadow on this blog.

Shadow was a very good dog.  He was cute, smart, brave, fun, and always happy.  Here is a picture of him:

Since many readers may be home now, it would be good time to pay some extra attention to your dogs.  Clean their food and water bowls.  Clean their mats.  Order them a new toy.  Give them some nice food.  Groom them.  Play with them.  Spend time with them.

Dogs are generally nice and some are very nice, and they deserve an extra bit of attention.

In commemoration of the anniversary of Shadow’s death, here is a poem:

Your face
is right there
on the computer screen.

A smile
bright eyes
always happy.

It’s been four years.

It doesn’t feel like that long.

You had a nice life.
A good life.
One a dog would want.

You had a friend
and people
and care.

You were a good dog.

There are so many stories.

Things you did.

How you were.

It’s been four years.

It doesn’t feel like that long.

Milestone: Five Year Anniversary

Today is the five year anniversary of the first post on M. Sakran’s blog of and about poetry and poetry related things.

Five years is a long time.  It feels like a long time.  Including this post, there have been 1,263 posts on this blog.  That feels like a lot of posts.

Shortly after the blog was started, there was some concern about what to post.  It seemed like there were no new ideas.  Of course, something was found.

There are many ideas to the blog.

Part of the idea of the blog is to educate readers.  That’s the purpose of the poems with explanations and the poetry essays.

Part of the idea of the blog is to give readers ideas for poetry.  That’s the purpose of the poetry topic ideas, artworks to inspire poetry, and photography to inspire poetry.

Part of the idea of the blog is to help readers write poetry.  That’s the purpose of the experimental poetry forms.

Of course, part of the idea of the blog is to give readers poems to read.  That’s the purpose of the poems and the bilingual poems.

Hopefully readers have benefited from all of this.  Hopefully some people out there have gotten something from it.

If you haven’t yet, please follow the blog.  There is a button in the sidebar you can click to do so.

Also, if you haven’t yet, you can check out M. Sakran’s two books.  There’s First Try, a traditionally published collection of poetry, and Understanding: poems with explanations, a self-published eBook of poems with explanations.

Here’s a poem for the day:

the bee flies
from flower to flower
five years of journey

Shadow: three year anniversary

Shadow

Today is the three year anniversary of the death of M. Sakran’s dog Shadow.  Shadow was a good dog.  He was very cute and playful and was smart.  There was a commemoration on this blog after he died.

To mark the anniversary, here is a poem:

three years
is a long time
but in some way
it doesn’t feel that long ago

there’s a list of memories
that could fill too much here
but some things sadly
have faded away

your photograph
is there each day
but what did you sound like
when you barked?

your friend misses you
your friends miss you
you were a good dog
a very good dog

sometimes
the backyard still feels empty

thanks for being here Shadow
