Milestone: Six Year Anniversary

Today is the six year anniversary of the first post on this blog.  Thank you to everyone who has read something on it.

Today there is an announcement.  Although a specific post count or date has not been determined, the plan is to end the blog in the relatively near future.  When a date is chosen, there will be a note on a post or a specific post about it.

Hopefully readers have learned something, been entertained, been inspired, or in some way gotten something from the blog.  Thank you again to everyone who has read something on it.

Here’s a short poem:

Thank you to everyone,
who has read what was here.

Sakran know through the contact page.

Thank you again to all readers.

Here’s a poem about the day:

the birds flew

on their migratory path
going somewhere
they have never been

Here’s a poem to commemorate the day:

Blogging,
can sort of be like,
a maamoul cookie.

No,
really.

First,
maamoul cookies,
are really hard to make,
if you’ve never done it.

After,
1400 or so,
it probably gets easier.

Also,
maamoul cookies,
have a surprise inside

There’s the outer cookie part,
and then the sweet date part inside.

A blog can be like that.

The first posts you find,
might informative,
or educational.

If you did a little deeper though,
you can find posts that are,
entertaining,
insightful,
and inspirational,
on all sorts of different blogs.

Also,
maamoul cookies,
are great to share.

Who,
doesn’t like,
maamoul cookies?

Blogging,
can be like that.

You can share your blog,
with so many people,
and you can share blogs you like,
with your friends.

Also,
maamoul cookies,
go great with tea.

Of course,
you can have a sip,
while you read (or write as is happing now),
a blog.

Yes,
blogging,
can be like,
a maamoul cookie.

Take a break,
have a bite,
and enjoy.

Here’s a poem:

Hey post,
what took you so long?

It’s taken,
like five years
(and 1 month, 3 weeks, and 4 days),
for you to get here.

Really,
you should learn to be more punctual.

Milestone: Five Year Anniversary

Today is the five year anniversary of the first post on M. Sakran’s blog of and about poetry and poetry related things.

Five years is a long time.  It feels like a long time.  Including this post, there have been 1,263 posts on this blog.  That feels like a lot of posts.

Shortly after the blog was started, there was some concern about what to post.  It seemed like there were no new ideas.  Of course, something was found.

There are many ideas to the blog.

Part of the idea of the blog is to educate readers.  That’s the purpose of the poems with explanations and the poetry essays.

Part of the idea of the blog is to give readers ideas for poetry.  That’s the purpose of the poetry topic ideas, artworks to inspire poetry, and photography to inspire poetry.

Part of the idea of the blog is to help readers write poetry.  That’s the purpose of the experimental poetry forms.

Of course, part of the idea of the blog is to give readers poems to read.  That’s the purpose of the poems and the bilingual poems.

Hopefully readers have benefited from all of this.  Hopefully some people out there have gotten something from it.

If you haven’t yet, please follow the blog.  There is a button in the sidebar you can click to do so.

Also, if you haven’t yet, you can check out M. Sakran’s two books.  There’s First Try, a traditionally published collection of poetry, and Understanding: poems with explanations, a self-published eBook of poems with explanations.

If you’d like to send M. Sakran a message about the blog, you can use the contact form on the contact page.

Also, be sure and check out M. Sakran’s website at www.msakran.com.

Thank you to all readers.

Here’s a poem for the day:

the bee flies
from flower to flower
five years of journey

This blog has been an experience.  Posting a post virtually every weekday has been fun, inspiring, challenging, interesting and many other adjectives.  It has been an experience.

As it stands now, the blog will continue with much of the same.  The current category topics of poems, poetry topic ideas, poems with explanations, artwork for inspiration, photography for inspiration, bilingual poems, experimental poetry forms and poetry essays will continue.

In the future, new categories may be added.  Some possibilities include: reviews of poetry books, interviews with poets, and contributed poems.  There are other possibilities as well.

Hopefully everyone who reads will keep reading and if you don’t regularly read, hopefully you will start.

Thank you to everyone.

Below is a poem, because, well … why not?

The millipede,
left footprints in the sand,
hopefully they will be seen,
before the waves,
wash them away.
